The Internet is rough today

There are times when the Internet can be harder than usual.

I’m no stranger to the web and it’s ridiculous and mystical ways. On some days, the Internet is filled with new bacon-wrapped something and silly videos.

Today is not one of those days. Today there’s a lot of hurt and serious discussions and intense feelings. It’s a rough one.

Working on the Internet has shown me the best and the worst that it has to offer. Heck, someone called my mother a prostitute once! (But that’s for another┬ápost.)

The awful job situation – AN UPDATE

Before I give you any of the news, I just want to say thank you to everyone who has been so awesome. After my last post about Daniel losing his job (Newly-weds: The good and the awful), I’ve gotten so many tweets, messages and words of encouragement. You are all pretty freaking amazing.

Now for the good stuff

After going for an interview on Friday and a little bit of haggling, my AWESOME HUSBAND has a new job! Just like that. He’ll be the brand new manager of Bike Mania in Tokai. And if you know Daniel at all, you’ll know that his love for motorbikes is very real. Man, I am so crazy proud of him. He stepped up and did what needed to be done. Love him.

Exciting stuff, you guys. And as you can imagine, I am very stoked. It was scary there for a few brief moments but as that song says ‘every little thing is gonna be alright…’

The Proposal Party

If you didn’t know, Daniel and I have been dating for 6 years now. We started dating when I was a wee 17 years old.

After a long time of hinting requesting a date for when the big question would be asked (because we had agreed it would be happening at some point…), it finally happened!

Just out of the blue, under the guise of a family braai, I walked into my aunt’s house and got a big surprise. I, however, first ignored said surprise because I really wasn’t expecting anything!

Here’s the video evidence. (Yes, there was much shaking and crying – happily)

1) Don’t ask any questions… Just read. :)

2) Behind me is a row of people – each one also holding a sheet. All you need to do (for now) is read each one OUT LOUD!

3) 6 years ago

4) I thought you made me the happiest man in the world…

5) 6 years on…

6) And my heart still pounds when I think about how much I love you!

7) And I’ve come to realise

8) There is only one way that I can be happier…

The boards I had to read out loud were a speech that Daniel had written. It was so sweet and romantic, just like the man himself. I couldn’t be happier with the proposal and the entire day.

The ring
The ring – Tanzanite – EXACTLY what I wanted!

More than anything, the huge amount of tweets, Facebook messages and Instagram comments that Danny and I received to congratulate us was amazing! We really felt the love. Thank you, everyone!

And again, to my family and loved ones that made the day so amazing and special – Thank you. You all mean the world to me!

Now for the planning! Warp speed ahead! (But not too fast, weddings are expensive.)

2011: I couldn’t be happier

Things the last 3 years or so haven’t been so great. I’m not one to dwell on the negative but when something like this so blatantly stares you in the face, there isn’t much choice in the matter.

2011 has a different ring to it though. If it were possible, a different smell, touch and sound. It just has so much potential and new life in it.

The holidays have been good. Lots of time with family and loved ones was spent. Lots of relaxing and reading and watching movies and swimming. We even managed to keep the exercising up! Phew.

So here’s to 2011. I’m looking forward to all the good things it has to hold. And I’m looking forward to holding on to this new feeling. I’m not quite ready for the car to lose it’s new smell yet. ;)

To 2011, and beyond.
