An evening at the beach

Daniel and I took a drive to the beach for our anniversary last night and despite the wind, it was a great time for photos. Here are a few that I snapped with my phone.

Table Mountain

Table Mountain looking gorgeous!

Rhino

A random man on the beach built this rhino. Awesome.

I’m off on holiday with Daniel and the parents tomorrow so I’m sure there will be more photos on Monday but for now, have a great weekend!

The Proposal Party

If you didn’t know, Daniel and I have been dating for 6 years now. We started dating when I was a wee 17 years old.

After a long time of hinting requesting a date for when the big question would be asked (because we had agreed it would be happening at some point…), it finally happened!

Just out of the blue, under the guise of a family braai, I walked into my aunt’s house and got a big surprise. I, however, first ignored said surprise because I really wasn’t expecting anything!

Here’s the video evidence. (Yes, there was much shaking and crying – happily)

THE BOARDS I’M READING SAY:

1) Don’t ask any questions… Just read. :)

2) Behind me is a row of people – each one also holding a sheet. All you need to do (for now) is read each one OUT LOUD!

3) 6 years ago

4) I thought you made me the happiest man in the world…

5) 6 years on…

6) And my heart still pounds when I think about how much I love you!

7) And I’ve come to realise

8) There is only one way that I can be happier…

The boards I had to read out loud were a speech that Daniel had written. It was so sweet and romantic, just like the man himself. I couldn’t be happier with the proposal and the entire day.

Engaged!
Engaged!
The ring
The ring – Tanzanite – EXACTLY what I wanted!

More than anything, the huge amount of tweets, Facebook messages and Instagram comments that Danny and I received to congratulate us was amazing! We really felt the love. Thank you, everyone!

And again, to my family and loved ones that made the day so amazing and special – Thank you. You all mean the world to me!

Now for the planning! Warp speed ahead! (But not too fast, weddings are expensive.)

3 things I love

Love by ~Pure-Poison89 (Deviantart)

Every now and then, new things pop into your life and you just fall in love. Books, music, games, a new car maybe? It can be absolutely anything. They make our lives just a little happier, don’t they? Well here are mine.

1. New Music: Explosions in the Sky

After watching Friday Night Lights (okay, I pretty much inhaled that fantastic show), Zayaan suggested a band called Explosions in the Sky. This is the same band who does the music soundtrack for Friday Night Lights. So bascially, how could I not love them? They’re an instrumental band and the music is beautiful (no Nicki Minaj here). It’s filled with so many feels.

Listen and enjoy

2. New books: John Gone

This love is not so much for the book itself (which is good on it’s own so far) but for 2 smaller issues.

2.1 The love of reading in general. It’s just such a wonderful escape from everyday life that I am  grateful to have the skill/opportunity to indulge in. I’m also grateful/proud that I have a love for reading at all.

2.2 I am loving reading new and different types of books. I decided to try John Gone (which I randomly picked up for free) after it was sitting on my Kindle for a couple of months. I got into a rut of reading the same couple of authors over and over and I needed something fresh. And it’s awesome. Yay!

3. New Iron Man 3 trailer

I love me some Robert Downey Junior and I love the Iron Man series just as much. It was fantastic to watch the new full-length trailer (so far) of the latest installment. I can’t wait for the movie!

Again, watch and enjoy.

What are some of your favourite things at the moment?

Win a SoyLites candle hamper from Girl Guides!

I guess I just completely fit the stereotype on this one but I love candles. If I got a giant hamper of candles as a birthday gift and nothing else, I’d be totally happy.

That’s probably why seeing that Girl Guides is giving away a kiff SoyLites candle hamper made we quite excited!

The geeks over at Girl Guides are awesome! And that’s why I’ve added them to my “South African Sites That Rock” section over on the right… Also, follow them on Twitter and Like their Facebook page. Go on, do it. Now.

Have a great Monday and don’t forget to enter!

Wow. 5 years, you guys!

<3

On the 14th of November 2011, Daniel and I had been dating for 5 years.

5 years.

Dude, that is a long time. That’s like… 260 weeks or 1825 days. It’s a lot okay.

Anyway, it’s been awesome. I’ve been really blessed to have someone as patient (trust me, he needs it) and loving (he likes to snuggle!) and romantic (I win ^_^) in my life.

Especially considering that I was only a wee 17 years old when we started on this crazy journey called a relationship. And it has been rather crazy. A LOT has happened in 5 years but I’m glad that Duckie has been my one constant. I’m not quite sure where I would be without him.

(Awwwww….)

Even though it’s been an entire 5 years, there is still so much we have yet to experience together.

  • There’s marriage and all it’s perks. Yes, all  it’s perks.
  • We want to travel overseas together too.
  • Then there’s just living together.
  • There’s kids that will come along one day. In the future. The far future.
  • We’ve been through a lot of bad things together and I know there’ll be more. Unfortunately.

It’s been a blast. It’s been crazy. It’s been fun. It’s been awesome.

Here are a few photos of us, because, well, it was our anniversary.

Kisses!

Our first voting experience together
This was on our 2nd anniversary
The madness! *cow tongue*

We’re adorable, right? Ugh. It’s ridiculous. ;)

Here’s to a bajilion more years together.
